Abstract:
This paper presents a rational and relatively simple method for predicting deflection of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforced concrete members. The method is based on the integration of the moment-curvature relation, which is assumed to be trilinear. The relationship is based on the assumption that the moment-curvature relation of a cracked FRP reinforced member remains linear under increasing load, and that tension stiffening is negligible. Based on the aforementioned method, closed-form maximum deflection formulas are derived for a number of common loading and support conditions. The results of the proposed method compare well with available experimental data.
