Description
This module is based on chapters 5 and 6, excerpted from ACI 305R-10, “Guide to Hot Weather Concreting,” address production, delivery, placement, and curing of concrete under hot weather conditions. Planning, cooling methods, controlling fresh properties, and retempering issues faced during production and delivery are considered. Requirements for placing and curing of concrete in hot weather are the same as in standard weather conditions, the concrete product should be handled so that is does not segregate, is placed in its final position, layered to minimized cold joints, and finished and cured to permit full strength development. This document was developed by ACI Committee 305 and approved by the ACI Technical Activities Committee. Additionally, this Concrete International magazine article, “Curing Test Cylinders in Hot Weather,” discusses techniques for controlling temperature and moisture loss during curing.
