Description
This is a recorded webinar series from May 13,14, 2024.
This webinar series is for Engineers, and designers involved in the design of concrete slabs-on-ground. Instructors will review theoretical background for analytical procedures, geotechnical considerations for supporting base and subgrade, thickness design, design examples, detailing and specifications to include in contract documents, and contract administration.
Table of Contents
This course provides 7.5 hours of content divided into two 3.75-hour modules.
Part 1— Design of Concrete Slabs-on-Ground
Learning Objectives:
1. List applicable code and design guidelines, and information required for a complete set of contract documents.
2. Describe various slab types and applicability.
3. Identify geotechnical considerations for supporting base and subgrade.
4. Explain loading conditions and interaction with soil support system.
Part 2— Design of Concrete Slabs-on-Ground.
Learning Objectives:
1. Compare various joint types and load transfer methods.
2. Summarize the theoretical background for current analytical procedures and design aids.
3. Discuss design examples for unreinforced slabs, shrinkage compensating concrete, post-tensioned slabs, and use of conventional and fiber reinforcement.
