Abstract:
Different structures at Meridian Hill Park, created by John J. Earley and the Earley Studio in exposed aggregate concrete of diverse colors and textures, have been deteriorating for over 90 years. Various attempts to repair or replace deteriorating concrete had been largely unsuccessful. The article summarizes a detailed study of the types and conditions of the park’s concrete features; development of repair techniques; documentation of associated tasks; and development of contract documents for repair, restoration, and replication of the concrete.
