Abstract:
The performance of some concrete surface treatment materials exposed to thermal and moisture variations was evaluated by measuring the compressive strength and water permeability of concrete specimens. The thermal and moisture variations increased the water absorption in both the coated and uncoated specimens. Among the concrete surface treatment materials investigated, acrylic coating performed better than other surface treatment materials when exposed to thermal variations. The water absorption in the concrete specimens coated with silane, silane/siloxane with acrylic topcoat, and acrylic coating was not significantly affected by moisture variations.
