Abstract:
Efforts at beautifying plain concrete have been around for a long time. In the 1890s or possibly earlier, precast companies manufactured decorative concrete items for building facades. Today, the public is very much interested in decorative concrete. The product grows more significant every year with hundreds of manufacturers and thousands of contractors involved. It is fitting to look back at the efforts of a few pioneers who had the original concepts that set it all in motion. Above all, there wouldn’t be a decorative concrete industry if it weren’t for the development of strong, durable concrete.
