When does the slump test provide a useful indication of workability?

Q. When does the slump test provide a useful indication of workability?

A. If mixtures have been specified that are of proper workability for the given structure, then changes in slump may be considered as indicating corresponding changes in workability, provided that admixture dosages do not vary (ACI 211.3R, ASTM C1170).
