Q. How is the resistance to alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) determined? A. Alkali-carbonate reactivity (ACR) can be determined by ASTM C586, and alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) by ASTM C227, ASTM C441, ASTM C1260, ASTM C1567, and ASTM C1293. Refer to ACI 221.1R and the Appendix of ASTM C33 for discussion of these various tests. References: SP-1(02); SP-77; ACI 201.2R-16; ACI 221.1R-98; ASTM C33; ASTM C227; ASTM C586; ASTM C441; ASTM C1260; ASTM C1293; ASTM C1567 Topics in Concrete: Aggregate; Alkali Aggregate Reaction; Durability; Testing of Concrete
