Technical Questions

ACI Committees, Membership, and Staff have answered common questions on a variety of concrete related topics.

What is architectural concrete?

Q. What is architectural concrete?

A. Architectural concrete is concrete that will be permanently exposed to view and therefore requires special care in selection of the concrete materials, forming, placing, and finishing to obtain the desired architectural appearance. Architectural and structural considerations as well as material and construction considerations are discussed in ACI PRC-303-12 “Guide to Cast-in-Place Architectural Concrete Practice”.
