Technical Questions

ACI Committees, Membership, and Staff have answered common questions on a variety of concrete related topics.

Will the use of fibers impact the air content of the concrete?

Q. Will the use of fibers impact the air content of the concrete?

A. The addition of fibers typically does not affect air entrainment in concrete. However, certain fibers may entrain air due to materials such as zinc coatings on steel fibers, adhesives from collated steel fibers, or surfactants used in the production of some synthetic microfibers.
