564-0E - Codes and Standard Review


Committee Mission: Stay up-to-date on codes and standards being developed by ACI and other organizations including ASTM and ICC, produce summary report on these efforts, and report back to ACI 564 main committee.

Goals: Construction scale 3-D printing using cementitious materials is a rapidly growing topic. There are numerous concurrent efforts in the United States and worldwide to develop guidelines, codes and standards for this evolving technology. One of the main goals of the ACI Committee 564 is to “Collaborate with technical organizations outside of ACI (e.g., RILEM, ASTM, PCI, ISO, ASCE/SEI/EMI) to facilitate and coordinate information sharing.” The charge of this proposed sub-committee will be to review and synthesize information from already published and currently being developed material specifications, guidelines, codes and standards, and make this information available to in summary forms to the ACI community and beyond. It is noted that this sub-committee is for the development of a synthesized guidance document and the standards and code writing is occurring with other committees that have the authority to perform those activities. Specifically, currently there are efforts by ASTM, ACI ITG, and ICC to develop codes and standards for 3-D printed construction. The subcommittee membership will be limited to those who are currently a voting member of one of the national or international committees that is developing a material specification, code or standard, or have been on such a committee recently as a part of a completed effort. The subcommittee will work on a synthesis document which will be regularly updated, presented in the ACI 564 main committee and beyond. The subcommittee will also propose sessions at the ACI conventions and beyond to broad disseminate this information.
