Watch for the New Concrete.org

Member-based versus behavioral-based may well be the theme of ACI’s efforts for the early twenty-first century.

Driven by the need to better accommodate the individual designer, ACI Committee 318 undertook the herculean task of reorganizing their code using a new member-based framework. A focus on behavior will soon be overlaid with a member-based framework—slab, beam, column, walls, joints, diaphragms and foundations—with the intention of creating a more user-friendly document that is easier to navigate and more aligned with the design process.

Coincidently, a similar effort has been underway in the redesign of www.concrete.org—the world’s virtual portal to ACI. In direct response to feedback from ACI’s members and customers, the website is redesigned with an objective of being more user-friendly and intuitive. ACI website content will be structured and optimized to meet the needs of the individual member and customer: engineers, contractors, educators, students, and committee members alike. Enhanced search capabilities will enable website users to locate the resources they need quickly.

Additionally, the new site, based on a “responsive design,” will automatically detect if you are viewing on a phone, tablet, or desktop and reconfigure accordingly.

The redesigned www.concrete.org home page will also include a built-in language translator. A dropdown menu will allow users to translate the site into their preferred language from more than 70 different options. With these new features, our full complement of industry-leading technical resources will be more readily accessible for discovery by everyone, worldwide.
