Active pursuit of official ACI Spanish translations began with the creation of ACI Committee 318S: Spanish Translation of Structural Concrete Building Code, and the first official Spanish translation of ACI 318 “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete” published in 2005. Currently, official translations of ten key technical committee documents and four certification publications are available, including ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete. Projects to develop additional official translations in support of international chapters, members and certification programs are underway. For decades, ACI has provided accessibility of concrete knowledge through licensed international translations. Organizations from around the globe including Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia are granted license to translate and distribute ACI publications. Today, ACI International Translations are found in a dozen languages including Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, French, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. Active licensed international translations are available through ACI or, in their geographic distribution areas, through licensed partners. Because of these efforts, ACI is recognized as a leader in producing translations for global markets. Worldwide, ACI has chapters in 37 countries. Many of these chapters are actively involved in ACI certification activities or hosting technical conferences to engage local concrete professionals. The global need for translations is apparent, and ACI is committed to making this information available to everyone. “We need to ensure that our chapters are fully engaged and that ACI provides the mechanisms and opportunities to flourish and to strengthen our chapter relationships,” said William E. Rushing, ACI President. “Even though we have some examples of past collaborative efforts with our International Partners, the initiative to expand past these efforts is in full swing.” In fact, organizations across the globe are reaching out to ACI as a partner in efforts to develop and share concrete information and technology exchanges so the entire concrete community can benefit. Participate in the Growth of Global Knowledge International Partners, Chapters, Members, or other organizations can further global access to ACI information. By requesting a License to Translate, you can develop a translation of an ACI publication, article or document in another language and have exclusive rights to distribute that information locally.
