ACI Chapter Activities hosted a special presentation for Chapter officers and board directors on Wednesday, February 5, 2016, during World of Concrete in Las Vegas, NV, USA. The chapter representatives gathered in the afternoon at the ACI Booth to participate in the launch of the “Chapter Technical Talks” program, a series of 1-hour technical presentations developed for ACI Chapters to use as lunch or dinner meetings. The first two presentations will focus on ACI’s concrete repair code and concrete cracking. “ACI is continually looking for ways to connect and engage with our chapters and their members. We usually bring ACI members to us via the fall and spring conventions, but this is an opportunity for ACI to meet with members in their hometown,” explained Kanette Mwanjabala, Chapter Services Coordinator. Chapter attendees included members from Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Philippines, Texas, Turkey, Washington, and Washington D.C. Also in attendance were ACI Vice President Michael Schneider, ACI Past President Ken Hover, ACI Executive Vice President Ron Burg, and Chapter Activities Chair David Suchorski. In the evening, ACI Staff and Chapter representatives participated in additional networking and complimentary food, drinks and a brewery tour at Gordon Biersch restaurant. “The networking event was very successful,” said John Conn, Director of Chapter Activities. “We had about sixty people in attendance and everyone was excited about the technical presentations. We have already had at least one chapter schedule a technical presentation and we expect to hear from many more.” ACI Engineering staff will conduct the technical presentations. ACI Chapters interested in hosting a Chapter Technical Talk this Spring or Fall should contact Kanette.Mwanjabala@concrete.org.
