The Concrete Convention and Exposition April 17-21, 2016 Milwaukee, WI, USA The ACI Wisconsin Chapter has created an exceptional technical and educational program for The Concrete Convention and Exposition, Milwaukee, WI, USA, April 17-21, 2016. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is perhaps best known for its famous breweries and the Major League Brewers, but there's more to the city than beer and baseball. Milwaukee is rich in historical and cultural attractions, making it the perfect place for the ACI Convention. Check out the newly expanded Milwaukee Art Museum or the Mitchell Park Horticultural Society, which hosts an annual show of the same flora and fauna seen in Georgia O'Keefe's paintings. Those interested in the city's history can visit the grand Pabst Mansion, former home of one of the city's famous beer barons, or the Milwaukee Public Museum, to see what life was like in Old Milwaukee. If the kids are along, don't miss the Milwaukee County Zoo or the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. Of course a trip to the "Genuine American City" would not be complete without a tour of the Miller Brewing Company and a Brewers game at Miller Park. In Milwaukee, over 40 sessions will be held, providing attendees with the opportunity to hear from industry experts on topics significant to the Milwaukee region, as well as those that relate to global issues. There will be a special two part session titled Fly Ash in Concrete—A Tribute to Tarun R. Naik. This session will recognize the founding director of University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Center for By-Product Utilization (CBU), Professor Tarun R. Naik for his significant contribution to the beneficial application of fly ash in concrete. Technical and educational sessions provide attendees with the latest research, case studies, best practices, and the opportunity to earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Upcoming convention sessions include: At the Frontiers of Concrete Technology and Sustainable Development in China Will Concrete and Masonry Survive the New Energy Codes? Hot Topic Session I: What's Replacing Fly Ash Precast Concrete Pavements: Best Practices and Innovations Concrete Bridges Built with Advanced Materials: Seismic Performance and Design Issues One Size Does Not Fit All-Performance-Based Approaches to Mass Concrete Design and Construction ACI 301-16 Specifications for Structural Concrete, Part 1 of 2 Recycled Materials to Enhance CLSM Applications and Properties ACI 562 Concrete Repair Code, Applicability, and Use View the entire schedule of sessions. During the ACI Convention, ACI Committees meet to develop the standards, reports, and other documents necessary to keep up with the ever-changing world of concrete technology. Committee meetings are open to all registered convention attendees, and are a unique opportunity to be a part of code drafting and revision, as well as give input on the use of concrete throughout the world. View the full committee meeting schedule. Numerous networking events are scheduled and it is ACI’s goal to provide every attendee with a place to meet with their peers and grow in the industry. The Women in ACI Reception, Faculty Network Reception, and Opening Reception, are just some of the events that provide a forum for attendees to gather with other concrete industry professionals. Other events of note include The International Forum and International Lunch, Contractors’ Day Lunch, and a Student Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Bowling Ball Competition. Companies from across the country will be showcasing their products and services at the Industry Tradeshow, coordinated with the ACI Convention. Attendees are able to learn about the latest in concrete technologies, systems, and applications. Learn more about exhibiting.
