Updates Also Include Minor Technical Details New workbooks for the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I and ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician programs will be available for purchase from the ACI Bookstore in early December, with the corresponding exams being phased into Sponsoring Group exam sessions in 2018. Starting in 2018, the CP-1 Technician Workbook for ACI Certification of Concrete Field Testing Technician--Grade I workbook will lose its year-based designation and will be published as the CP-1, 36th Ed. This change in terminology will ultimately be applied across ACI’s entire range of certification workbooks. No significant organizational changes are accompanying this name change. “The intention is to take emphasis off the publication year, as most ACI Certification workbooks—unlike the CP-1—are not revised on an annual basis,” said John Nehasil, Managing Director of Certification. “The benefit will be seen most across the full spectrum of ACI certification workbooks.” The new CP-1 will include the following document versions (new for 2018 in bold): C31/C31M – 17, C138/C138M – 17a, C143/C143M – 15a, C172/C172M – 14a, C173/C173M – 16, C231/C231M – 17, and C1064/C1064M – 12; also, back by popular demand are C29/C29M and C94/C94M in the Appendixes. Updated technical details in the new CP-1, 36th Ed. and accompanying 2018 exams versus the outgoing CP-1(17) are not significant, so Sponsoring Groups may use-down the 2017 workbooks into the new year. And, though not necessary, Sponsoring Groups may also request the matching 2017 version of the exam, while supplies last, at the time of placing the exam order. Also new for 2018, the CP-19 Technician Workbook for ACI Certification of Concrete Strength Testing Technician workbook will lose its year-based designation and be published as CP‑19, 22nd Ed. The new CP-19 will include the following document versions (new for 2018 in bold): C39/C39M – 17b, C78/C78M – 16, C617/C617M – 15, and C1231/C1231M – 15. Similarly, as with the CP-1, the updated technical details versus the outgoing book are not significant. If using-down the inventory of 2017 workbooks into the new year, matching versions of the examination can be ordered while supplies last, but are not necessary. An updated examination & workbook price list—available to the primary contact at each Sponsoring Group—has been distributed. Examiners or other individuals looking to organize an exam session should consult with their primary contact to ensure proper ordering of materials, delivery, billing details, and more. Additionally, workbook prices are available to anyone, anytime in the ACI Store at concrete.org/store.
