The 2019 Ninth National Concrete Competition was held recently in Torreón, Coahuila, México, during the XXXV OlimpiANEIC (National Olympic Games for Civil Engineering Students). The event was organized by CEMEX, The Asociación Nacional de Estudiantes de Ingeniería Civil (National Association of Civil Engineering Students, Mexico), The American Concrete Institute, The Instituto Mexicano del Concreto Sustentable (Mexican Sustainable Concrete Institute) and CANDE Ingenieros. Contest Objectives: Promote durability and sustainability by using alternative materials and sub-products of different industries Recycling and reducing Produce 10 x 20 cm (diameter and height) samples with the best electrical resistivity possible, the largest use of alternative materials, and with volumetric weight in a saturated and superficially dry state not bigger than 2200 kg/m3 The first-place winner in the Global Development category won an all-expense paid trip for one team member to the ACI Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites Competition on October 20, 2019, in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
