Concrete Construction magazine recently announced its 2020 Most Influential People in the Concrete Industry. The list includes: Jeffrey W. Coleman, Kimberly Kayler, and Scott Tarr. Jeffrey W. Coleman ACI Vice President Jeffrey W. Coleman, FACI, was named: “for being on the side of contractors and the concrete industry in legal issues.” Coleman is a licensed professional engineer and Attorney at Law and Principal Partner of The Coleman Law Firm, LLC, Minneapolis, MN, and is the author of the book Legal Issues in Concrete Construction, published by ACI in 2004 (second edition published in 2014). Kimberley Kayler Kimberly Kayler, President, AOE, an ACI subsidiary, was named for: “for leading concrete industry associations—staff, boards, and members—to new levels of professionalism.” Since becoming president of AOE, the for-profit subsidiary of the American Concrete Institute, in 2018, her determination has led her to look hard at how to deliver value to its clients. Read more. Scott Tarr Scott Tarr, North S. Tarr Concrete Consulting, was named for: “helping contractors avoid problems with concrete slabs and toppings.” After graduating with a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire, Tarr went to work at Construction Technologies Laboratories (CTL), which was a subsidiary of the Portland Cement Association. For many years, CTL was the world’s leading concrete research lab, so he learned from the best and became one of the nation’s leading forensic engineers, solving problems with slabs and structural concrete.
