This statement has been updated - click here for update The American Concrete Institute is pleased to be hosting the ACI Concrete Convention in Rosemont/Chicago, IL, USA, in just a few weeks. ACI is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and how it may affect the convention. All meetings and sessions at the convention are scheduled to proceed. As the situation progresses, we will update you about changes or contingency plans on the ACI website, through the convention app, and via e-mail. ACI intends to follow government directives and recommendations as they relate to the coronavirus. In addition, ACI is taking the following steps directly to ensure the health of convention attendees: The official hotel will have hand sanitizer stations around the venue; and Attendees will be encouraged to consider non-contact alternatives to the traditional handshake greeting. In recognition of the challenges faced by international attendees, ACI will allow cancellation of registration without penalty to those residing in countries that the CDC recommends avoiding nonessential travel, categorized as Warning Level 3 or Alert Level 2, which currently includes China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, and Japan. Attendees from countries that are restricting the movements of their citizens due to a large-scale quarantine, which currently includes China, Italy, and Japan, are also eligible to request a cancellation without penalty.
