The American Concrete Institute is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the International Code Council’s 40th annual Building Safety Month. Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May to raise awareness about building safety. As a global society of 30,000 members dedicated to the development, dissemination, and adoption of concrete technology, ACI supports Building Safety Month to highlight the important role of building codes in creating safe and sustainable communities. “ACI is committed to ensuring that everyone has the knowledge needed to use concrete effectively,“ states Steve S. Szoke, ACI Code Advocacy Engineer. “Building Safety Month is an opportunity for ACI to assist in elevating the importance of adoption and enforcement of building codes with the public – especially regarding ACI’s code requirements for structural concrete design, concrete repair, fire resistance, and more.” Many local, national, and international building codes now require certified personnel in key positions on the jobsite. ACI Certification currently offers nearly 30 certification programs to help meet the job requirements of the structural, architectural, and decorative concrete specified on jobsites. ACI Certification gives personnel the needed knowledge regarding necessary requirements and how they can be included in project specifications to require competency and build confidence for all concrete projects.
