The 2020 Professors' Workshop was held virtually on July 27-29, 2020. Co-sponsored by the ACI Foundation and the PCA Education Foundation, the workshop provided instructors with the latest tools and teaching techniques to effectively engage students in courses that cover structural concrete design, construction, materials, and pavements. While the primary focus of the workshop was to provide the resources for teaching, several interactive sessions were held to explore the role of online teaching in concrete-related courses for undergraduates. “The Professors’ Workshop is an important event for concrete industry instructors, especially now when education formats are changing so rapidly,” stated Claire A. Hiltz, Professional Development Manager, American Concrete Institute. “We were very pleased that having a virtual format allowed for more engagement and participation from educators.” Participants of the workshop shared and discussed their experiences in teaching online during the interactive sessions which helped others develop ideas for engaging students in the virtual classroom. One participant stated that, “This workshop has come at an opportune time as I have to rewrite some courses and prepare for online lectures. This has been a great value.” Visit the Professors’ Workshop Testimonial Page, for even more positive feedback from participants. Due to the increase in demand for the workshop, ACI will be offering for the a limited time the Professors’ Workshop in an on-demand format and available for purchase until August 17, 2020 in the ACI Store. To purchase the on-demand workshop and/or to stay up to date on the 2021 Professors’ Workshop visit concrete.org/events.
