Bibo Zhong, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Bibo Zhong, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is the winner of the 2020 James Instruments Student Award for Research on Nondestructive Testing of Concrete. The competition is sponsored by James Instruments, Inc., a Chicago-based manufacturer and distributor of NDT systems and administered by ACI Committee 228 Nondestructive Testing. Bibo received a $1,500 cash prize for his research paper titled, “Evaluation of Stress in Prestressed Concrete Structures Based on Acoustoelastic Effect” and was invited to present the findings to ACI Committee 228 and at the Research in Progress session to be held during the ACI Virtual Concrete Convention on March 28- April 1, 2021. The purpose of this competition is to stimulate student interest in the area of NDT; to recognize meritorious and innovative research in concrete and concrete materials using NDT methods; to publicize the field of NDT and the work of the committee; and to recognize the support given by the sponsor to students working on NDT research.
