The American Concrete Institute recently exhibited at the Building Officials Association of South Carolina (BOASC) during May 4-5, 2021. The Building Officials Association of South Carolina is an organization dedicated to solving the challenges of administering and enforcing building and related codes. During the two-day show, Kerry Sutton, ACI Code Advocacy Engineer, talked with attendees about the Institute’s many codes and the potential adoption of ACI CODE-562-19, Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures and Commentary. These efforts are consistent with the ACI’s efforts to have ACI committee-developed code requirements adopted for the public good. States that have already adopted ACI CODE-562 include Hawaii, Ohio, and most recently Florida. For more information on ACI advocacy and involvement, visit concrete.org/advocacy.
