Completion of ICC Building Safety Month

The American Concrete Institute was pleased to have been the sponsor of the International Code Council’s 41st annual Building Safety Month. The event is an international campaign celebrated to raise awareness about building safety and took place throughout May 2021.

One highlight of the month’s activities was a virtual event on May 13, 2021, which provided the opportunity for code officials and others interested in building safety to virtually gather, exchange information, and discuss relevant industry topics about concrete, ACI, and more.  

“Sponsoring Building Safety Month allowed ACI to not only get the message out that we strongly support the education and credentialing of personnel to be properly qualified as required by code,” stated Kerry Sutton, ACI Code Advocacy Engineer. “But it also allowed for us to interact with code officials, learn from them, and identify opportunities to develop partnerships between local ACI and ICC Chapter with regard to education.”

As a global society of 30,000 members dedicated to the development, dissemination, and adoption of concrete technology, ACI continues to support Building Safety Month to highlight the important role of building codes in creating safe and sustainable communities.
