The American Concrete Institute (ACI) is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the International Code Council’s (ICC) 43rd annual Building Safety Month. Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May to raise awareness about building safety. As a global society of 30,000 members dedicated to the development, dissemination, and adoption of consensus-based standards, technical resources, and educational programs, ACI supports Building Safety Month to highlight the important role of building codes in creating safe and sustainable communities. “ACI is committed to ensuring that everyone has the knowledge needed to use concrete effectively, especially with regard to safeguarding the public,” said Steve Szoke, ACI Code Advocacy Engineer. “Concrete design, construction, and material technology and construction industry knowledge regarding the effects of disasters are constantly changing. Building Safety Month is an opportunity for ACI to assist in elevating the importance of adoption and enforcement of current modern building codes that incorporate the latest industry consensus standards.” ACI offers a variety of programs that give personnel first-hand knowledge of necessary requirements and how they can be included in project specifications. With 30+ certification programs, hundreds of online learning courses, education publications, and certificate programs, the Institute strives to provide competency and build confidence for all concrete projects.
