The FRP Composite Beam Competition was held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, during the ACI Concrete Convention in Boston, MA, USA. Thirty-three teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by ACI Committees 440 Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement, 440-G FRP Student Competitions, 440-H Reinforced Concrete, and S801 Student Competitions Committee. The undergraduate university teams are challenged to demonstrate design, construct, and test a concrete structure reinforced with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement to achieve the lowest cost-load ratio. Cash prizes were awarded ranging from $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD for first, second, and third place prizes, respectively.
