The FRC Bowling Ball Competition was held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, during the ACI Concrete Convention in Toronto, ON, Canada.
Fifty teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Chile, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by ACI Committee 239 - Ultra-High-Performance Concrete, 544 - Fiber Reinforced Concrete, and the 124 - Concrete Aesthetics.
The objective of this competition is to demonstrate the behavior of fiber reinforcement within concrete, to gain experience in forming and fabricating a fiber-reinforced concrete element, and to encourage creativity in engineering design predictions and analysis testing. Teams were judged in three categories – Design Prediction, Analysis Testing, and Aesthetics, with an additional award being granted for the judge’s choice category. Cash prizes were awarded ranging from $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD for first, second, and third place respectively in the Design and Analysis categories.
