Abstract:
Based on equilibrium and compatibility conditions, as well as a new stress-strain relationship for softened concrete, a truss model theory is derived to predict the strength and behavior of low-rise reinforced concrete shearwalls. The theoretical prediction was compared to the tests of twenty-four shearwalls and was found to be applicable throughout the loading history.
