Abstract:
Specimens that simulated the dowel action of beam longitudinal bars against a concrete core at the cracked beam-column interface were tested. The test results, with the beam on an elastic foundation theory, were used to derive expressions for dowel strength and the dowel load-deflection relationship. The main factors influencing dowel behavior were also distinguished.
