Abstract:
Portland cement is now amongst the most valuable of manufactured products, its aggregate value being probably only second to that of iron and steel. Forty years ago its use was limited and it was manufactured on only a small sclae; at the present time its uuse is so widespread that the annual production in this country alone is aobut 100,000,000 barrels. The chief use of Portland cement is as a substitute for stone.
