Abstract:
To supplement conventional design methods, this paper reviews mechanisms of transverse shear transfer in reinforced concrete slabs. A truss-model-based design procedure is developed for transversely reinforced labs, and its application is illustrated for the case of a large transfer plate in a high-rise building.
