Abstract:
HELIX™ micro reinforcement is produced with a unique twisted profile that allows each piece to bond to the concrete matrix over its full length. The reinforcement must untwist as it pulls out of the concrete, which makes this product significantly different than traditional steel fibers (pullout is governed by twisting resistance rather than friction). The article explains the functional mechanism behind this micro reinforcement and provides testing and design methodology.
