Abstract:
Experimental investigations were made to determine the ultimate capacity of reinforced concrete members of hollow circular sections subjected to both transverse and axial loads. Of the eight specimens tested, four were monotonically loaded to failure and the other four identical specimens were cyclically loaded before being loaded to failure. All specimens were tested in the presence of an axial load. Specimens differed in the value of the axial load, the amount of longitudinal steel, and the method of loading. The effects of the axial load, the steel ratio, and the method of loading on the strength and stiffness were investigated.
