Abstract:
Laboratory and field experience in the testing of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) has indicated the need to review existing test methods and to develop new methods where necessary to determine the properties of FRC. This report outlines procedures for specimen preparation in general and discusses testing, workability, flexural strength, toughness, and energy absorption. New test methods are suggested for impact strength and flexural toughness. The applicability of the following test methods to FRC are reviewed: air content, yield unit weight, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, freeze-thaw, shrinkage, creep, modulus of elasticity, cavitation, erosion, and abrasion resistance.
