Abstract:
The use of sustainable construction materials, such as Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3), has gained prominence in reducing the carbon footprint of the construction industry. However, LC3's unique composition presents challenges in achieving optimal workability. This study investigates the combined effect of two potent superplasticizers, polycarboxylate ether (PCE) and phosphonated superplasticizers, to enhance LC3's rheological properties. Through flow spread and heat evolution experiments, this research evaluates the synergistic impact of their fluidizing and retarding effects on workability and hydration.
Our findings reveal that the combination of PCE and phosphonated superplasticizers in LC3 exhibit a remarkable improvement in the rheological properties with marginal retardation. The study's outcomes offer valuable insights into the effective utilization of superplasticizers, paving the way for improved LC3 performance and its wider adoption in the construction industry, ultimately contributing to reduced environmental impact.
