Abstract:
Summarizes the Tennessee Valley Authority’s over 25 years’ experience in using fly ash in concrete mixtures. Physical and chemical properties of fly ash and their effects on freshly mixed and hardened concrete are discussed, and engineering parameters of concrete contaning fly ash are evaluated. A procedure for mix-proportioning of fly ash concrete is also presented along with sample calculations for a typical mixture. Special applications such as zero-slump concrete and pumped concrete are also discussed.
