Abstract:
Undergraduate civil engineering programs typically contain a course that introduces students to the fundamentals of reinforced concrete analysis and design. At some schools, this course is required for graduation, whereas at others, it is an elective. In either case, most students majoring in structural engineering, construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, and materials engineering (within civil engineering) take an undergraduate reinforced concrete design course. The format for such a course is typically lecture/discussion, and frequently, there is also class time devoted to group or individual work on design problems.
