Abstract:
To fully incorporate technology into any business operation, including ready-mix, the business has to be broken down into manageable processes (quality systems, dispatching, accounting, transport, or production). By assigning critical priorities to each one of these processes, the steps for integrating the new technology become clear. Conflicts, however, may arise when trying to integrate two or more types of technology into a company. In turn, different priorities are generated for different systems depending on what technology is being implemented. The issue then becomes how to fit the various technological pieces into the overall corporate strategy. The only real solution is to re-examine the corporate direction and strategy and take a stepwise approach to applying the technology so that its full potential can be used to accomplish corporate goals. The ideal situation is to get the fullest potential of the technology as quickly as possible, to address the highest priority systems first, and preserve the overall corporate strategy.
