Abstract:
This paper examines the potential impact of the seismic provisions of recent model codes on concrete construction across the United States. This is done through a generalized comparison of detailing requirements and seismic design forces against current code requirements in a number of specific locations. Several locations are chosen in the area of influence of each existing model code. Based on the information presented, the potential impact appears to be quite substantive.
