Abstract:
Asesmic design of a 16-story building with coupled shear walls is carried out based on inelastic response history analyses under carefully selected input motions. The design approach makes it possible to predetermine the sequence of plastification, provide ductility details only where reuired, and balance the strength and ductility requirements of individul members. Efficancy, economy, and desired sructural proformance are achieved as a result.
