Abstract:
The strength of a reinforced concrete column is affected by the variations in the strength of the concrete and steel, the cross section dimensions of the concrete and steel, and the location of steel reinforcement. The effects of these variables on the variability of the ultimate strength of rectangular reinforced concrete tied short columns were studied using the Monte Carlo technique for random simulation. The results of this study indicate that the specified concrete strength and the steel ratio have a significant influence on the distribution properties of the column strength.
