Abstract:
A practical hand method for the analysis of interacting coupled shearwalls with two rows of openings is presented. By basing the analysis on the continuous connection technique, the high degree of static indeterminacy of the system has been reduced to a fourth order differential equation. Elastic foundation conditions are taken into account for the system. Results, directly applicable for practical use, are given for a uniformly distributed load. Two examples have been analyzed to illustrate the method and show the effects of the foundations.
