Abstract:
Describes tests using retarding admixtures with the purpose of improving the properties of hot-mixed concrete. The results concerning the water requirement for hot mixes having the same consistency, time-dependent changer in consistency, temperature rise, and strength gain are presented as functions of the mixing temperatures. Other parameters studied in the laboratory tests were the effect of the make of cement and the type and quantity of admixture on the properties of hot-mixed normal weight concrete and lightweight aggregate concrete.
