Abstract:
The tensile strain capacity of concrete proposed for use in important massive structures must be known if appropriate measures are to be taken to control volume change and resulting thermally induced cracking. A rapid method for estimating tensile strain capacity of mass concrete is presented and simpler methods are predicted. Mix proportions and composition factors affecting the tensile strain capacity of concrete are also discussed.
