Abstract:
Gene Figg, President and Director of Bridge Art at Figg Engineering Group discusses his perspective of 24 years of the firm’s experience in the design of concrete segmental bridges, including the Sunshine Skyway, the Natchez Trace Arches, the JFK Airport Transit System and the Maumee River Bridge. He provides examples of precast and cast-in-place concrete segmental bridges that protect the environment, are aesthetically pleasing, eliminate congestion in urban areas and span large water crossings. The benefits of concrete segmental construction are discussed. .
