Abstract:
As part of an ongoing inspection and renovation project of concrete cylinder piles of the twin bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain, a concurrent study was undertaken into methods that could arrest any deterioration discovered. After searching the literature and the National Bridge Inventory, several wrap and rigid jacket systems were considered. Based on field investigations and laboratory testing, all-polymer encapsulation was chosen as the best available means to repair cracking.
