Abstract:
Covers experimental work conducted on a new combination of polymers and silica fume as an admixture to mortar and concrete that gives superior performance over conventional latex-modified concrete bridge overlays. The properties of the new system, such as compressive, flexural, and bond strengths, modulus of elasticity, water and chloride penetration, and freezing and thawing resistance, are discussed, and case studies of practical applications are presented.
