Abstract:
A comparative evaluation of the plastic shrinkage cracking resistance and toughness of fiber-reinforced and welded wire mesh-reinforced concrete was conducted. The testing program was designed to provide answers to the following two simple questions: How efficient is the reinforcement in controlling the formation of plastic shrinkage cracks? And, after cracking has occurred in a slab, how efficient is the reinforcement in providing resistance to additional opening of the cracks in the hardened concrete?
