Abstract:
To prevent excessive leakage in liquid-containing structures, crack widths must be controlled by providing adequate amounts of reinforcement. In the study presented in this article, the finite element method was used to estimate the amount of reinforcement required to control crack widths and produce a serviceable liquid-containing structure. The results were used to determine minimum reinforcement ratios in base restrained walls.
