Abstract:
The authors evaluated 4 to 25 year old shotcrete repairs on hydro dams in British Columbia. They conducted on-site investigations and laboratory tests on core samples. Both wet-mix and dry-mix shotcrete repairs performed generally well. Freeze-thaw damage to moisture saturated substrate concrete led to local debonding of the shotcrete on some sites. The paper provides recommendations for shotcrete repairs on hydro dams.
